How do you clean your cutting board?

clean your cutting board

Have you ever cooked something that tasted delicious, but had that smell and taste on your cutting board for a few days after?  Have no fear, I am here to solve that problem for you!

I’m not surprised, but they actually sell cutting board cleaners- ones that are full of gross chemicals and unnecessary ingredients.  The simple hack that I am going to tell you about involves muscle power, and simple household ingredients.  Before I tell you my tricks, I have to tell you to please never put your wooden cutting board in water or the dishwasher!  It can warp, split or crack it.

To clean your cutting board after you finish cutting meat or vegetables, bring it to the sink to wash it with hot water and soap.  Immediately dry it and stand it up so it can dry all around.

To get rid of odors like garlic or onions, just wipe it down with white vinegar.  Vinegar is a great natural cleaner that leaves behind a light scent that is pleasant.

To get rid of stains, just sprinkle a little baking soda on the surface and rub it into the surface with a lemon.  You can also use a sponge, but I prefer to use the lemon.  Another alternative is to rub lemon and salt into the stains, its really gentle and works!

To keep your all worked cutting boards new, rub a little mineral oil onto them.  This revitalizes them and makes them look sparkly even if they are well worn. Store them in a cool, dry space on top of racks if possible to eliminate damage from moisture.
